Get traction on continuous delivery with holistic testing at Agile Testing Days

Published on September 15, 2025

Around seven years ago, my delivery team was tasked with moving from every two weeks to twice-weekly deploys to production. Given that we didn’t always succeed with delivering on a two-week cadence, the journey was not going well! I reached out to two people whose teams were practicing continuous delivery: Abby Bangser and Ashley Hunsberger. The ideas they shared helped me and my team get traction on delivering small batches of changes frequently, reliably, and confidently.

Sharing the learning

Abby and I took one of the techniques and created a 90-minute workshop, “Using Pipelines to Bring Products to Production”, which we facilitated at European Testing Conference 2018. We were overwhelmed with positive feedback, and shared the pipeline exercise materials with many consultants and trainers. Ashley and I decided to build out an all-day tutorial for CAST 2018, including the pipeline exercise. “A Whole Team Approach to Testing in Continuous Delivery”  was packed with enthusiastic practitioners, again with hugely positive response.

Over the years, Ashley and I have done this tutorial again at CAST and other conferences. I’ve also done it with several other leading testing practitioners, and Ashley did a virtual version with Janet Gregory. Meanwhile, Janet and I captured a successful whole team approach to testing, quality, DevOps and continuous delivery in our Holistic Testing model. Ashley and I have evolved our all-day tutorial into “Holistic Testing, Continuous Delivery and You”, which we will facilitate at Agile Testing Days this November.

And, those organizations still struggle with fitting in all the testing activities, shortening feedback cycles, having enough automated test coverage to feel confident, and more. Please join our tutorial and build up your toolbox with techniques that let your team work together towards continuous delivery success. Watch our super quick video for more details!

My favorite conference – for good reasons!

Agile Testing Days is my super favorite conference, though there are several more that are also my favorites. I presented at the first one in 2009, and thought, that was fun, I met amazing people, I learned a lot, I’ll go back again. After a couple years, since I can only go to a few conferences every year, I thought, I wonder if I should go to a different conference next year. And, each year, the conference was such an amazing experience, it kept me on the leading edge of testing and development. I became part of a community that helped me grow and learn all year, every year. If you can only go to one conference, make it Agile Testing Days. You can use my discount code, Lisa_15, when you register, to save 15%. Super Early Bird prices end September 21, so hurry!
