Some ways we can lead for quality
More than ever, we testing and quality professionals need to be quality leaders for our teams. The job title or role doesn’t matter, competencies and energy to influence do. Too many “agile” teams still struggle along in a mini waterfall. Testers may be embedded on cross-functional teams, but developers still throw testing to the testers at the end of the iteration. Nobody really wants this. We need to find ways to make our teams’ quality problems visible. We need to build relationships to get everyone engaged in testing activities throughout the infinite development life cycle.
I’ve had the great honor to talk about aspects of quality leadership and holistic testing with two wonderful community leaders recently. First, I was so chuffed to be Rosie Sherry‘s guest on the Ministry of Testing’s Leading with Quality series. Rosie has so many insights into the world of testing and quality, and I took away some inspired ideas to try myself! And, the Ministry of Testing is a gold mind of information about everything testing, including the latest insights on that most popular topic, AI.
And I’m also honored to be one of the early guests on Richard Seidl‘s Software Testing Unleashed podcast. I have enjoyed all the episodes in this podcast so far, and I love Richie’s “quality attitude” concept. We covered a wide range of topics in our conversation on Holistic Testing and more. And I was happy he included Ernest in the picture for the episode. So many conference organizers and other people I do talks with cut Ernest out of my head shot!
I love to talk about testing! And am happy to talk with you about it too. Feel free to book time with me via my Contact page.
