A review of reviewing “Rebels of Reason – The Long Road from Aristotle to ChatGPT & AI’s Heroes Who Kept the Faith” by John Willis with Derek Lewis

Published on March 31, 2025

As a member of the Profound Book Club, I feel privileged to be reviewing a pre-publication “galley copy” of John Willis’s latest book, Rebels of Reason. John Willis is one of the founders of the DevOps movement and co-author of The DevOps Handbook and Beyond the Phoenix Project.

Rebels of Reason “invites us to rethink our narrative of innovation” and John has published a sample of the Prolog to the book: First Look at Rebels of Reason. The book is full of great stories related to the history of AI.

I have learned so much while reviewing the book. I have learned from reading Rebels of Reason, from John Willis who has shared insights from his research for the book and career, from other members of the Profound Book Club, and from the discussions that we have had.

I can’t comment on the contents of the book because it is pre-publication, except to say that it is well worth reading and that I am enjoying it!

We all need to know more about AI, and I recommend reading Rebels of Reason when it is published. To get on a waiting list for the book, sign up for John Willis’ DearCIO Newsletter

Thank you, John Willis, for another informative and useful book.
