ERP Quality and Testing

Published on December 12, 2024

Sturdy ERP systems which are the heartbeat of business enterprises need be solidified with great quality and testing strategies. Last week I was in a call with an ERP expert talking about the transition that ERP systems are going to go through in the near future, and I touched upon the topic of ERP quality and testing.

While we were at it, two important things figured in the discussion – one was the cloud environment and microservices, and the other was the safety, security, and privacy aspects as covered in cybersecurity, especially for the systems in cloud. As I was going through some articles that are trending on business, many CEOs have expressed opinion that they are having difficulty navigating the speed with which tech. is changing, and undoubtedly, it is an opportunity for many of us in the quality space, as we will be able to suggest the best steps forward when it comes to recommending the right kind of mix for tech. solutions, from a quality perspective – take for example, the development frameworks that they can use, or the programming language that they can use, from a performance or security perspective.

ERP quality and testing is key in the logistics and supply chain space, and one of the key points to consider is to decide whether to have an ERP system at all at the first place. This is especially true for small and medium businesses because of cost of ownership and ROI. I figured that it is not just a tech. consideration, but also a culture consideration, because it really depends on the people who are running the show and how they want their systems.

When it comes to culture, it is not the ISO documents, standards, or tech. details that influence the people, but how they perceive whether a specific architecture/design would suit their people needs. This is where corporate storytelling plays a key role, and I’m happy to share that I have added that role to my portfolio recently!

When it comes to startups, especially in India, quality and testing is a niche game, because one needs to know when to play the advisory because timing is important. Enter too early, and you won’t have a role to play and enter late, you have missed the boat! So, corporate storytelling, along with tech inputs, at the right time, in winning the quality and testing game with startups.

I am quite excited as ever as we navigate through these ‘troubled’ waters, and indeed, the ‘sharks’ are lurking! But it’s exciting, because the blue ocean can turn red anytime in a matter of seconds.

Enough of corporate lingo, now back to work! If you would like to get in touch with me, please setup a time. Look forward!
